The Material Girl might be in the market for a new man. A source told the Chicago Sun-Times that Madonna and her 23-year-old boy toy, Jesus Luz, have called it quits. Apparently it was Brazilian model Luz who initiated the “totally amicable” break up, citing their age difference and busy schedules. “The problem with Jesus is as simple as it is obvious,” said a friend of Madonna who clearly wasn’t too surprised by the split. “It’s the age difference. He’s 23. She’s 51. How long could it last? How it even lasted a year seems a miracle to a lot of people. He’s perfectly nice, a gentleman and very smart. But they are in such different places in their lives. Or, as Madonna told me, ‘We’ve just run out of things to talk about.’” Don’t feel too bad for Madonna, who began dating Luz after her divorce from Guy Ritchie was fnialized. She’s rumored to be what drove a wedge between Kate Hudson and another of her famous exes, A-Rod. So if Madonna really is a single lady, we doubt she’ll stay that way for long.

Is this really the same woman who sang “Erotica?” Madonna now prefers shoes to sex, at least according to shoe designer Jimmy Choo. “Madonna told me that buying a pair of my shoes is more satisfying than having sex with a man,” said Choo. “At least you know they are going to last forever.” Maybe the Material Girl is just changing with age? She did turn 51 this year. Or maybe this is an indication of how her current boy toy Jesus Luz is in bed. Madonna couldn’t stop talking about her sex life when she was married to Guy Ritchie! “I don’t know who told you that having children and getting married means there is no erotica in your life,” the former Mrs. Ritchie said at the time. “Our sex life is amazing. But I had to marry someone as tough as me. Guy’s definitely tough. I had to marry a challenge; otherwise I would just get bored. Whatever else Guy is, he’s never boring.”

Madonna’s taken a lot of flack over the years for her hyper-sexualized image, fake British accent

Madonna’s taken a lot of flack over the years for her hyper-sexualized image, fake British accent, Kabbalah faith…you name it. But one of her collaborators thinks all the criticism is unfair.

“I think she’s a great role model for young girls and women alike, and I don’t understand why people give her such a hard time,” said DJ Paul Oakenfold, who was part of the Queen of Pop’s most recent tour and also produced the two new tracks on her greatest-hits collection, Celebration. “I think she’s ahead of the turf, she’s certainly fresh and unique and her work ethic is unbelievable and very inspiring. I respect her in every way. Sometimes I disagree with her, but there’s nothing wrong with having your own opinion.”

The Material Girl admitted she’s sick of her old songs

‘80s nostalgia is back in full force, but don’t ask Madonna to relive the “Me Decade” anytime soon. The Material Girl admitted she’s sick of her old songs—especially “Like a Virgin.”

“Not to toot my own horn but they always play my old stuff when I’m in a shop or wherever,” said Madonna. “They are usually songs I am really sick of though, and I have to say, ‘Oh please, turn this off.’ It’s usually ‘Like a Virgin,’ and that is the one I don’t want to hear.”

To her credit, Madonna recently finished her “Sticky and Sweet” tour, which featured many of her classic songs. And she just released yet another greatest hits collection. If we were her, we’d probably be sick of those songs too. At least for a little while.

Michael Jackson: The King of Pop

If you needed a reason to tune in to MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday night, here’s your chance. While there have been plenty of tributes to the King of Pop after his passing, none will be as big as the one lil sis Janet is planning for Sunday. Word is that some of the world’s top choreographers, such as Frank Gatson and Travis Payne will be helping choreograph a routine that will make Janet’s fitting tribute a very memorable one. Dancers have been working overtime and according to one of them “there won’t be a dry eye in the house.”  We know it’ll be a fitting tribute. Will you be tuning in to watch?

In related news, the list of A-list performers participating at the September 26 concert for Michael Jackson in Vienna has been revealed. Among the notables are: Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Natalie Cole, Sister Sledge, Akon, actress Angela Bassett and the possibility exists that even Madonna will make an appearance. Jackson’s family and children – along with 65,000 fans – are expected to attend the festivities.
